Daniel Rosen – Music Law & Copyright 101
This session will offer a birds-eye view of the basics in Copyright Law and how it applies to new and developing artists and music companies. This will include an introduction to IP/Copyright, moral rights, owner’s rights vs users’ rights and how Copyright Law can protect you and your business. Additionally, the session will cover 3 basic contract structures. One for creating intellectual property, and another for exploiting IP (including record deals and publishing agreements) and ones for building your team (management & brand agreements). Finally, the instructor will overview the fundamental music royalty structures including collective licensing, neighboring rights and public performance.
